Goal

Get RedHat 9 working on my Sony SRX77 laptop. This will breathe new life into this very small laptop.

Installation

Use one of the following lines at the initial prompt when doing the install. I used the first one with RedHat 9 and had no problems.

expert all ide1=0x180,0x386
expert noauto ide1=0x180,0x386

Choose the ALPS GlidePoint(PS/2) mouse driver. Works perfectly.

The rest of the install was done with the defaults.

Getting It ALL To Work

This is the hard part, or at least the hardest part.
