GIF
Format Support Notice
Due to the change in policy
by Unisys regarding their licensing of the GIF and other file formats, The Castle
will no longer support any of their file formats. This includes the current
NON-LZW support for the GIF file format included in SplitImage™. I am sorry
for any inconvenience this may cause you or your company, but I do not feel
that it is worth $5,000.00 (US) to support those formats. All images on this
site and all software will use the PNG file format instead. Go to the Burn
All GIFs page for more info and rants.
The GIF file format is no longer a viable file format.
Please feel free to copy and use the No GIF logo everywhere.
UPDATE: Since the Unisys patent has now expired (as of June 20th 2003), the GIF format is back and will be used again.
